Frequently asked questions

Have a question? Check out the FAQs below, or use the contact form to get in touch with me directly.

Where are the lessons based?

My lessons are based in my music studio in Headingley, Leeds. I can also travel to you with additional costs covered.

I don't have an instrument, can I still take lessons?

Of course! I have spare guitars and a superior quality Kawai upright grand piano. If you would like to try out learning an instrument before you invest in one of your own, I can support this and provide guidance on your purchase of an instrument.

What happens if I can't make my lesson?

If you can't make a lesson, just give me 48 hours notice and we can rearrange a time that suits you. More information about cancellations and refunds can be found on my terms and conditions page.

I'm not sure if the lessons are for me, do you offer taster sessions?

Absolutely. I offer an initial 30 minute consultation lesson for free, with no obligation to book afterwards.

How long is each lesson?

I offer 30 and 60 minute sessions. For children under the age of 12, I advise 30 minute sessions. For older pupils, 60 minutes is strongly recommended – it takes time to develop a good understanding!

Do you offer group lessons?

I only offer individual lessons at this point.

I am a complete beginner, can I still take lessons

Yes! I'm experienced in teaching both advanced and brand new players.

I'd like to sit in on my child's lesson, is this possible?

Yes, this is no problem. My music room has plenty of space and additional seating.

Can you teach me my favourite song?

Yes :) My lessons usually follow the ABRSM syllabus, but there is always scope for us to work on any pieces or styles you would like to learn outside of that structure.
